Krakow - a city that hides real treasures
Welcome to Kraków, this historic city on the Vistula, whose downtown has been a World Heritage Site since 1978, and which attracts history buffs as well as those looking for light relaxation.
Wonderful churches, impressive buildings, permanent exhibitions, lively restaurants and cafes await visitors. Wawel - The Royal Castle - has a very long history. The XIV. It was founded in the 18th century, and two centuries later it became one of the most beautiful palaces in Europe.

The Rynek, the third largest square in Europe, is a few minutes' walk away from Wawel. (Only St. Mark's Square in Venice and St. Peter's Square in Rome are more monumental.) Here you can find the old merchant's house, the Post Hall, the old Town Hall, and Krakow's most famous church, the Gothic St. Mary's Church, with its magnificent winged altar by the famous Nuremberg woodcarving artist of the Middle Ages, Wit Stwosz. . Every hour a horn sounds from the church tower. The unique atmosphere of the square is provided by artists and musicians, often in the framework of a fancy parade.

Anyone visiting Krakow cannot miss Kazimierz, the formerly independent Jewish town founded by Kazmér the Great in 1335. The atmosphere of Kazimierz captivates you immediately, the streets familiar from Schindler's list, the cozy pubs and coffee houses impress everyone.
Krakow is a city of young people, a significant part of the population is university students. It is not for nothing that the country's oldest and most pristine school, the Jagiellonian University, is located here. Young people drink coffee and beer. There are countless places to sit out, restaurants, and pubs throughout the city center.

Those who like beer should not miss the raspberry beer, which is of German origin, but extremely popular here. Along with beer, you can get pretzels sold from a typical yellow cart on almost every street.
If you have time to explore the city, it is worth taking a trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, located 10 km away, which after nearly 1,000 years of mining, is most comparable to a large, unique underground city that has become mysterious due to the salt crystal formations.

If you haven't been there yet, you should visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau Camp Museum. Auschwitz (known as Oswiecim in Polish) is located approximately 70 km west of Krakow. The concentration camp that operated between 1940-45 has now become a place of pilgrimage, a place of remembrance.
